Let Me Tell You About My Jesus

Let Me Tell You About My Jesus

If I have never told you about Jesus, I’m sorry.

A couple of weeks ago, while doing chores and listening to music, I felt the Holy Spirit drop the story of Lazarus and the rich man (Luke 16:19–31) into my heart.

This rich man was not kind, and the scripture makes this obvious without using many words. While he lived in luxury, Lazarus, a poor beggar, lay at his gate, tormented as dogs licked his sores and surviving on whatever crumbs fell from the rich man’s table. The man, rich and capable, did nothing to help him.

Yet, when the rich man found himself suffering in the fire of hell, he looked up and saw Lazarus. After his request for even a drop of water was denied, he asked that Lazarus be sent back to warn his five brothers:

“… send Lazarus to my family, for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.”

This unkind, privileged man likely had equally unkind and privileged brothers, whom you would think he wouldn’t care what happened to them. But in his torment, he wanted nothing more than to keep them from that same fate, except maybe a single drop of water.

Hell is the devil’s home, and from Scripture’s description, no one should wish it on even an enemy, much less friends or family.

So today, let me tell you about the One who guarantees eternity in Heaven: my Jesus.

He is God, the Son, part of the triune Godhead. We have eyewitness and historical accounts of Jesus, God in human flesh, who walked the earth perfect, sinless, and blameless. He was crucified, died, and rose again. He offers eternal life, asking only that we believe in Him and accept Him as Saviour and Lord.

Suppose you are wondering why you should choose Jesus among all the prophets who claimed to show us God. My answer is this:

First, Jesus was not a prophet; He was God in the flesh.

Second, even if you considered Him a prophet, show me another who died and rose again. We all can agree that a living Saviour is a far better guide than a dead one.

Another person may ask, “Your life hasn’t been easy, even with Jesus. So why do I need Him?”

The simple truth is that life can be difficult, but with Him, you never walk that difficult path alone. He holds your hand, makes the crooked path straight, and offers you eternity with God.

If you have never paid attention to this Jesus, please do. Don’t take my word for it—research and read about Him yourself. The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are a great place to start. Read also about the Apostles who, even in the face of painful deaths, never changed their message: Jesus is God, the Messiah who died and rose again. If they had been lying, the threat of death would have broken their resolve, but it didn’t. Their dying declaration remained: Jesus is Lord.

I hope you believe me enough to search deeper. I pray the Holy Spirit helps you see. I pray Jesus reveals Himself to you, as He did to Paul—hopefully without the temporary blindness.

Love from me, and the purest love from my Jesus.

Tee.
