The Mistrust of Opposite-Sex Friendship

I have had my fair share of this kind of mistrust and the side-eye every time I mention my male BFFs.  Everyone is just suspicious. If they are not winking, they are scrunching up their noses and telling fortunes of how we are bound to end up together. (Not happening!)

And no thanks to pop culture, best friends always seem to end up together in almost every movie. So, we can’t exactly blame the soothsayers.

Can’t men and women just be best friends, without it turning into something else?

I think they can, although the dynamics of that friendship may change, especially when one or both ‘booed’ up. It may be necessary to take a little step back in that situation and try to befriend the boo, or at least be cordial.

Anyway, what do you guys think?

Can men and women be simple best friends?

Would you be comfortable with your partner’s best friend of the opposite sex?
